Bound in brown cloth with an illustration from the book pasted on the cover, black lettering on the cover and spine; gilt top. 129 numbered pages, 6½×8½. Six full-page illustrations in colour and twelve drawings in black and white, These illustrations first appeared in magazine form in 1901 in Little Folks. They were all done in black and white originally.

Bound in red cloth with an illustration from the book pasted on the cover and gold lettering on the cover and spine. 94 numbered pages, 4⅞×7⅛. Four full-page illustrations in colour and two drawings in black and white. These illustrations first appeared in magazine form in Little Folks in 1902; and later, in Fairy Tales Old and New. There is also another edition of this book bound in limp gray buckram with black lettering, but not dated.
