Land Office, 1886-90; reappointed for five-year term in 1894; general practice until January, 1912, when elected Judge of the County, Probate and Juvenile Courts of La Plata; re-elected, term expiring 1921; member Columbia University Association, Society of Older Graduates, Dwight Alumni, Law School Alumni, Colorado Alumni; Secretary Durango Board of Trade, 1892-1911; now member Durango Exchange; secretary Durango Public Library; member American, Colorado and South-western Colorado Bar Associations; member Knights of Columbus, Elks.
