INTRODUCTION.
This Bulletin contains a continuation of the work on the life histories of North American birds, begun in Bulletin 107 and continued in Bulletin 113. The same general plan has been followed and the same sources of information have been utilized. Nearly all of those who contributed material for, or helped in preparing, the former volumes have rendered similar service in this case. In addition to those whose contributions have been previously acknowledged, my thanks are due to the following contributors:

In the two previous Bulletins the author adopted, without any changes, the nomenclature of the 1910 edition of the check list of the American Ornithologists' Union. But, now that a new check list is in preparation, it seems best to adopt the names that will probably appear in the new check list, so far as they are now understood by
