thou from Me, O bull of the Bhâratas. That in which one by practice rejoiceth, and which putteth an end to pain; (36)
यत्तदग्रे विषमिव परिणामेऽमृतोपमम् ।
तत्सुखं सात्त्विकं प्रोक्तमात्मबुद्धिप्रसादजम् ॥ ३७ ॥
Which at first is as venom but in the end is as nectar; that pleasure is said to be pure, born of the blissful knowledge of the Self. (37)
विषयेन्द्रियसंयोगाद्यत्तदग्रेऽमृतोपमम् ।
परिणामे विषमिव तत्सुखं राजसं स्मृतम् ॥ ३८ ॥
That which from the union of the senses with their objects at first is as nectar, but in the end is like venom, that pleasure is accounted passionate. (38)
यदग्रे चानुबन्धे च सुखं मोहनमात्मनः ।
निद्रालस्यप्रमादोत्थं तत्तामसमुदाहृतम् ॥ ३९ ॥
That pleasure which both at first and afterwards is delusive of the self, arising from sleep,
