SELF SOUGHT.

SELF SOUGHT.

The sweetest kernel is always
The one we have broken ourselves;
The gold that we prize the highest
Is the one we have delved ourselves.

The pearl that we count the purest
We have robbed ourselves from the sea,
And the truth we count the dearest
Must be inborn and make us free.
