Cries and amazement—music stops—
They all rush to help the bride.
Where is the man? The unknown guest!
Away! Dark is the night to hide!

The music plays—the dance has ceased,
All joy has now passed for aye.
To endless rest they bore the bride,
In the dance she passed away.
