Q Dr. Eastman, you are a lawyer, correct?

A Correct.

Q And are you a graduate of the University of Chicago Law School?

A Yes.

Q And I know of your very distinguished clerkships. Can you tell us who you clerked for after law school?

A Judge Michael Luttig and Justice Clarence Thomas—like you,  .

Q Yes. And then did you practice at a law firm following your clerkships?

A I did, at Kirkland & Ellis.

Q For how long?

A Two years.

Q And following that—

A Not including time as summer associate.

Q I understand. And what did you do after leaving Kirkland & Ellis?

A I went into teaching and founded a public interest law firm called the Center for Constitutional Jurisprudence at the Claremont Institute.

Q And do I understand that you both have taught in an academic setting and also represented clients as well?

A That's correct.
