parcel of land, extending from present-day Lincoln Way to Judah Street, between Forty-fifth and Forty-sixth avenues, San Francisco, and here, since 19 10, amid his books, he had resided. It is generally agreed that the Duboce Tunnel and Judah Street car line were fruits of his agitation for the betterment of that district.

The oldest post of the American Legion in California, San Francisco Post, claimed him as a member, and these comrades-in-arms conducted his funeral services. The mortal remains of Charles Francis Griffin now rest in Holy Cross Cemetery, San Mateo County.

Book of Remembrance

In the December 1948 Quarterly appeared, for the first time, a list of twelve names, in whose memory gifts had been made to the Society's Library Fund.
