The Cathedrals of Senlis, Noyon, and Chartres are instances of the first, and those of Paris and Bourges of the second class. In the more developed Gothic, as at Amiens and Beauvais, apsidal chapels become general, and add great richness to both the interior and exterior effects of the building.
