5. The Watering-Place

In the foreground. on the bank of a river and in front ol a high tree, three grooms are exercising their horses, one of them, in the centre. leading a second horse by the bridle. Two other gro: ms with three horses are in the river beyond. On the lelt, an open doorway: open country with hills in the distance on the right. Signed with monogram. Panel 23 3 4 in. by 4 in. l'rom the Collection of Mr. I.ce Pemberton.

Turned three-quarters to the right. On her head she wears a blue kerchief over a whitc linen drapery which enframes her wrinkled face. heavy fur-mantle is drawn round her sheulders. Bust. Life-size
