Take the essence of cedrat, bergamot, orange, and lemon, of each two drachms; a gallon of rectified spirit, and two quarts of water: put all into a glass alembic, and distil in Balneum Mariæ till the faints begin to rise, when the receiver must be immediately removed.
To make a Gallon of Vestal Water.
Take of the seeds of daucus creticus, or candy carrots, two ounces; a gallon of spirit of wine; and two quarts of water: distil in Balneum Mariæ till the faints begin to rise: then add to the spirit drawn over, an ounce of the essence of lemons, and four drops of the essence of amber-
