SONGS FOR DREAMS

Some dreams that I have loved
And dreamed by night and day,
Though they are lost to me,
Are never far away.

A part of lurking winds,
Of silence in grey rooms—
From every echoed sound,
And out of corner-glooms

They come as strange as ghosts,
A little death-sad throng,
Beseeching me with praying hands
To give them life in song.
