A CERTAIN Fisherman and his wife had a brave family of twelve sons; and they all lived together in a house by the sea; and the Fisherman fished every day, and he always caught fourteen fish, which was one apiece, for they were fourteen in family. Now it happened on a day that the Fisherman and his wife were in the house together, and their twelve sons were abroad, save the youngest, who had curled himself up by the peat fire, and was sitting among the ashes. But the man and his wife were not to see him; and they talked freely to each other, and gave no heed to the lad.
