Genre painter, pupil of Dandn'-Bardon, Carle Van Loo, and Natoire. When he joined Natoire's school the pupils of the other masters called him Julien the Apos- tate. He, afterwards styled himself Julien de Panne, after his patron the Duke of Parma.
