Two fig- ures, a, man and his wife, seated at a table, the former writing in a ledger, the latter leaning one arm on his shoulder and the other on the table, on which are jewels, coins, an inkhorn, a purse, etc. Long in Amsterdam, whence purchased in last cen- tury for the royal collection. Venetian school ; journeyman to Giovanni Bellini, and perhaps to one of the Vivarini. Best known by his copper-plates. He was one of the few Italian masters of the time who were not influenced by the works of Diirer. The great window of S. Giovanni e Paolo at Venice is signed Hieronymus Mocetus. Lazari says it was painted from his cartoon in 1473 (?). Among his paintings are a Madonna, Chapel of S. Biagio, SS.
