Gained silver medal of Society of Arts, 1848 ; in 1851 adopted painting as a profession, and in 1852 exhibited Penelope at her Web. Afterwards devoted himself to landscape. Accompanied Holrnnn Hunt to the East in 1853, and in 1854 exhibited The Pyramids and Jerusalem. Returned to the East in October, 1856, and died the next month.
