EDWARD PLUNKETT, 16th Baron, in the peerage of Ireland, a Representative Peer for Ireland, 2nd son of Edward Wadding, 14th Baron, by the Hon. Charlotte Louisa Lawless, daughter of the 1st Baron Cloncurry. Born Nov. 29th, 1808; suc- ceeded his brother in 1852; entered the Royal Navy, 1823 ; was Midshipman of the " Sybille," 1826, and was present in a conflict with pirates in the Archipelago ; served 011 the Coast of Spain during the Civil Wars, 183640 ; became aCapt. 1846, a Rear- Admiral on Reserved List 1864, and a Vice Admiral, 1871. Is a Dep. Lieut, and a Magistrate for (co.) Meath. Married (1846) the Hon. Anne Constance Button, 3rd daughter of the 2nd Baron Sherborne, (this lady died, 1858), and has issue, living, Sons, Randal Edward Sherborne, M.P.; b. 1848 ; educated at Eton and at Christ Church, Oxford ; has sat as M.P. for Gloucestershire West (C.) since Feb. 1874.
