Oct. 13, 1/86, and succeeded his father, Aug. 1, 1823 -, was a Capt. in the Royal Navy: m. March 28, 1H6, Eliza, daughter of the Hon. A. J. Cochrane Johnstone; and d. Commanded the 2nd division of the Forces under Sir Hope Grant in the China campaign, and with the French division of General Collineau, conducted the operations ending in the storming of the North Taku Fort, and the occupation of Pekin.
