HENRY JOHN REUBEN DAWSON-DAMER, 3rd Earl, in the peerage of Ireland, and a Representative Peer for Ireland, son of Capt. the Hon. Henry Daw son -Darner, R.N. brother of the 2nd Earl. Born Sept. 5th, 1822; succeeded his uncle in 1845 ; was educated at Oxford University ; is a Dep. Lieut, and a Magistrate for Queen's county, and a Magistrate for Dorsetshire : married (1847) Lady Alex- andrina Octavia Maria Vane, who died 1874, 2nd daughter of the 3rd Marquess of Londonderry, K.G. He>r presumptive, His cousin, Lionel Seymour William, M.P. son of the late Right Hon. George Lionel Dawson-Damer, M.P. B. 1832 ; was educated at Eton ; entered the Scots Fusilier Guards, 1849, became Lieut, and Capt. 1854, and served in the Crimea; was present at Alma, Balaclava, Inkermann, and Sebastopol; retired 1856; has received the Crimean medal with clasps, the order of the Medjidie and the Turkish War medal; was M.P. for Portarlington, 185765, and was again returned (C.) 1868 ; has been Lieut. Queen's Own Dorsetshire Yeomanry Cavalry since 1858 ; is a Dep. Lieut, of Queen's county, and a Magistrate for that county, Middlesex, ana Dorsetshire: m. 1855, the Hon. Harriet Lydia Montagu, daughter of the 6th Baron Rokeby, and has, with other issue, George Lionel Henry Seymour, b. 1858. Residences, Came House, Dorchester ; 2, Chapel-street, W. Feb. 26, 178!; succeeded his father, 1798; he was a Colonel in the Army ; and d. unmarried, Dec. 28, 1845. PORTLAND, DUKE OF. (SCOTT-BENTINCK.) WILLIAM JOHN CAVENDISH SCOTT- BEXTINCK, 5th Duke. Born Sept. 17th, 1800; succeeded his father in 1854; was M.P. for Lynn, 18246 ; is a Dep. Lieut, of Nottinghamshire, a Family Trustee of the British Museum, and a co-heir to the "Barony of Ogle. Heir presumptive, Major- Gen. Arthur Ca"endish Bentinck, youngest son of the late Lord Charles Bentinck; b. May, 1819: late Col. /th Dragoon Guards: rn. 1st 1857, Elizabeth Sophia, who Fp-ir diseracp d - 1858, eldest daughter of Sir Vincent Whit- shed, 5th Bart.; 2ndly 1862, Augusta Mary Elizabeth, daughter of the Hon. and Very Rev.
