DEBRETT'S ILLUSTRATED PEERAGE. STRATHALLAN, VISCOUNT. (DRUMMOND.) WILLIAM HENRY DRUMMOND, 7th Vis^ count, in tire peerage of Scotland, and a Representative Peer of Scotland. Born March 5th, 1810; succeeded his father in 1851; was educated at the Charter- house ; was a Lord in Waiting to the Queen, 1858-9, and 18668; is a Dep. Lieut, of Perthshire: married (1833) Christina Maria Hersey, youngest daugh- ter of Robert Baird, Esq. of Newbyth, sister of Sir David Baird, 2nd Bart, (this lady died, 1867), and has issue, living, Sons, James David, Master of Strathallan, b. 1339; was educated at Eton; appointed Aide-de-Camp to the Lieut.-Gen. of the North-Western Provinces in India, 1864 , became Lieut, of the llth Hussars, 1859, Adjutant, I860, Capt. 90th Foot, 1864, and exchanged as Capt. to the 14th Foot 1869, and to the 6th Dragoon Guards 1873 ; was BrigacJr Major in Bengal, at Sealkote, 1868 "3: m. 1st, 1868, Ellen who d. 18/3 daughter of Cudbert B. Thornhill, Esq., C.S.I., Member of theSudder Board of Revenue, North- West Provinces, India, and has issue living, William Henry, b. Aug. 5, 1871 ; 2ndly, 1875, Margaret, eldest daughter of W. He was b. March 24, 1767, in 1824, was restored to the family honours, which had been under attainder for eighty- eight years : m. Jan. 18, 1809, Lady Amelia Sophia Murray, daughter of the 4th Duke of Athole, R.T. (she d. 1849) ; and d. May 14, 1851. having had issue seven sons and two daughters.
