Born Nov. 1805; succeeded his kinsman 1871 ; edu- cated at Trinity College, Dublin : married (1829) Anne, who died 1871, eldest daughter of the late Malachy Daly, Esq. of Raford, co. Galway, and has issue, I have resolved. living, Sows, William, Lord Delvin, b. 1832'; educated at Oscott College ; formerly Captain in the 9th Foot, with which regiment he served in the Crimea: m. 1866, Emily Margaret, daughter of A. WESTMEATH, Earl of, His lordship's predecessor was his kinsman, George Thomas John, 8th Earl of Westmeath, who in J822 was created a Marquess. He was b. July 17, 1785, and succeeded his father in the Earldom 1814. Educated at Rugby. Was formerly Lieut, and Capt. in the Coldstream Guards, and served in the expedition to Egypt under Sir Ralph Abercrombie 1801, and was sometime Col. of the Westmeath Militia, and a Magistrate for co. Roscommon : m. 1st, 1812, Lady Emily Anne Bennet Elizabeth Cecil, who d. 1858, 2nd daughter of the 1st Marquess of Salisbury; 2ndly, 1858, Miss Maria Jarvis, from whom in 1862 he obtained a divorce ; 3rdly, 1864, Elizabeth Charlotte, 2nd daughter of David Verner, Esq., and niece of the late Sir William Verner, 1st Bart., M.P., K.C.H. He d. May, 1871, leaving issue by first marriage, one daughter. WESTMEATH, Marchioness of, ELIZABETH CHARLOTTE, 2nd daughter of David Verner, Esq., and niece of the late Sir William Verner, 1st Bart.   • Thomas Nugent, of Pallas, co. Galway, Lord Chief Justice of the Court of Queen's

Bench ; was created Baron Nugent, of Riverston, co. Westmeath, April 3rd, 1689 ; but the title is not acknowledged, having been conferred by King James II. after he had abdicated the English crown. It was, however, recognised by Gen. de Ginkell at and after the siege of Limerick, in proof of which documents were produced in the House of Lords in July 1811.
