WILTON, Earl of, His lordship's predecessor was Sir Thomas Egerton, 7th Bart, who was raised to the peerage as Baron Grey de Wilton, in 1784 : m. 1769, Eleanor, daughter of Sir Ralph Assheton, Bart. In 1801, in consequence of the death of all his children but a daughter, Eleanor, he obtained a new patent, creating him Earl or Wilton and Viscount Grey de Wilton, with remainder to the younger sons of this daughter, (who had married the 1st Marquess of Westminster) : and d.
