To turn pale at no crime, JOHN WjLSON-PATTEN, 1st Baron, eldest son of the late Thomas Wilson Patten, Esq., M.P., of Bank Hall, Lancaster, by Elizabeth, daughter of the late Nathan Hyde, Esq., of Ardwicke, co. Lancashire. Born April 26th, 182. Educated at Eton, and at Magdalen College, Oxford. Is an Aide-de-Camp to Her Majesty, Vice Lieut, of Lancashire, and Hon. Col. cf the 3rd Royal Lancashire Militia. Was Chairman of Committees of the whole House from Nov. 1852 till April 1853, and Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster 186668, when he was created a Privy Councillor and Chief Secretary for Ireland. Sat for Lancashire (C.) 1830 1, when he was an unsuccessful candidate, and for the northern division of the county continuously 1832 74. Married (1828) Anna Maria, who died 1846, daughter and co- heiress of the late Peter Patten Bold, Esq., of Bold, Lancashire, and has issue, living, Daughters, Anna Maria, m. 1866, (Rolleston). Ellinor, Elizabeth. Heir presumptive, His grandson, John Alfred, son of the late Capt Eustace Wilson- Patten, of the 1st Life Guards, by Emily Constantia, daughter of the Rev. Lord John Thynne; b. 1867. Creation, Baron Winmarleigh of Winmarleigh, in the county of Lancashire, in the peerage of the United Kingdom, 18"4. 3rms, Fusily, ermine and sable: a canton gules.
