On the death of the gth baronet the baronetcy devolved upon Theodore Clifton, a planter in the West Indies, claiming as eldest heir male of Robert Clifton, Esq., of Blyth, next brother of the 4th baronet. At the decease of Sir Theodore the title passed to Francis Clifton, the great-grandson and lineal descendant of James Clifton, Esq., heir male of Robert Clifton, Esq., of Blyth, grandson of the first Baronet.
