The former baronetcy of 1620, belonging to this old Kentish family, originally called Rookehurst and later Roobertes, became apparently extinct on the demise in 1745 of Sir Walter, 6th baronet, who left an only daughter, Jane, who married the 3rd Duke of St. Albans. About 1775 the Duchess discovered that the descendants of Thomas, second son of the ist baronet, who had emigrated to Ireland in 1631, were in existence and seated at Britfieldstown, Roberts' Cove, co. Cork ; and upon their descent being proved the title was assumed by the then head of that branch, Randal, and it was confirmed to his eldest son Thomas (but not antedated) in 1809. The ancient property of Glassenbury, Cranbrook, Kent, which had then been in the direct line for nearly seven centuries, was left by the Duchess of St. Albans to the second son of this Sir Thomas, viz., Col.
