The ist baronet greatly distinguished himself in the troubles of Ireland, and was created a Privy Councillor. The 3rd baronet, Master-General of the Ordnance, was in 1682 created Viscount Mountjoy. The and and 4th baronets were also Master-Generals of the Ordnance ; and the 3rd viscount and 5th baronet was created Earl of Blesinton, but his peerages became extinct at his death in 1760.
