Roberts' advance on Kabul, 1879 : in the operations round Kabul, defended the Lataband post : commanded in the Khyber in 1881 : C.B. : commanded the Indian Contingent in the Soudan, 1885 : K.C.B. : Maj-General, 1887 : commanded a Division, 1888–92 : Lt-General : C. in C, Bombay in 1893 : died at Poona, June 9, 1893, instantaneously, from a fall from his horse.
