Note.—In preparing the foregoing tables it has been necessary in some cases to calculate the figures given. This was owing to the absence of detailed information regarding the crushings put through during certain periods, expecially prior to 1887. There has, however, in practically all instances been indirect data available enabling the missing returns to be estimated, so that the figures set out may be taken as sufficiently accurate for all ordinary purposes.
