goats and a still larger number of hogs, both domestic and wild. There were many hundred acres in wheat, producing from eight to twelve quarters an acre.[1]

This grain was now sold at the rate of four shillings a bushel. Many persons also raised oats and barley. A very large quantity of maize was cultivated, the increase being two hundred and fifty quarters for every quarter planted.
