Evening Songs

LVI

My God, of all things I aspire
I here confess, whole-hearted;
All I pray for is that from song
I never shall be parted.

Shouldst Thou withdraw my gift of song—
I ask to live no longer;
Shouldst Thou for song bid me take bliss—
I still to song cling stronger.
