What Party else to David's happy Throne,
Would have preferr'd a giddy Absalon?
But when a King is moulded to their Mind,
Then they to him would have all sway confin'd;
Nor in their own defpotick boundless Reign,
Of Injur'd Rights, and Property complain:
Nay with a Standing Force thy Sons wou'd awe;
The Subjects Slavery, the Tyrant's Law.
But if nor King nor Commons will comply
With their detested Acts of Villany.
They strive the P—rs declining Pow'r to raise,
And get Impeachments Voted into Praise.
Blest Patriots these, who Liberty employ,
T' elude thy Laws, and Liberty destroy!
Where is the Noble Roman Spirit fled,
Which once inspir'd thy antient Patriots dead?
