On 10th March Robert, archbishop of Canterbury, informed his Majesty that he had examined--^ into and con- firmed the election of Henry de Merewell as bishop of Winchester-*, and the King thereupon restored the temporalities to him two days afterwards'^'. He was consecrated at Canterbury 30th May and en- throned 10th Oct. He died at Farnham 29th June 1316-.
