Along the “Lykins” valley from the La Porte fold to Owl Canyon there are two light colored low ridge making sandstones at the Owl Canyon end of the area and one at the southern end. Made coffee and ate lunch at Owl canyon at noon. At 12:45 it cleared off rapidly. Hitched up and drove out to the mouth of the canyon at 1 p.m. In the sandy shales between the two sandstone ridges of the Dakota we found a 4- inch stratum literally filled with Ostreidae , but in very poor condition.
