On the way back from up creak we found ant heaps composed almost entirely of small quartz crystals, and at on place the sand at the bottom of the gully was clear quartz sand. Cool morning. Up at 5:30 a.m., breakfast at 6:30. I went below camp and collected mollusca mollusca. Searched for two hours and found only one colony of Ashmunellas Ashmunella, collecting two or three dozen within a radius of 10 feet. Those collected yesterday were also in one place, under cottonwood Populus logs and sticks.
