Forming extensive groves on the dry hills at Yit-hai, between the Phoenix Mountain and the river Han. Maud Dunn, 11.4.1909. The Bamboos are regarded by the Chinese as emblems of feminine grace, I therefore name this species after its discoverer, my wife, who accompanied me on my Han Expedition as on all my others in the far East.
