This work is respectfully dedicated to the boys who wore the Gray and the boys who wore the Blue, and who fought and suffered for what they conceived to be right.
No more shall the war cry sever,
Or the winding rivers be red;
They banish our anger forever
When they laurel the graves of the dead;
Under the sod and dew,
Waiting the judgment day,
Love and tears for the Blue,
