FRENCH NURSERY RHYMES.

Have pity on my weakness;
Walk beside me always,
Chat with me all along the journey;
And while I listen to you,
Lest I fall along the way,
Good Angel, give me your hand.

THE GUARDIAN ANGELS.

A ring of Angels, beautiful and pink
Hover above my cradle.
Two by two, all around
they guard my crib[1] night and day;
At my feet and along side my bed
They constantly keep watch.
Gently closing my eyelids
When I finish praying;
And all night they watch over me,
And wake me in the morning;
And when it is cold, or windy,
They cover me warmly,
And at the end of my life
They will lead me to Paradise.

  1. Couchette (s.f.), dim. of couche, bedstead.
