My dear Mr Hartert
I expect you have been wondering for a week or two if I had gotten away for Venezuela. This of course will answer the question, and serve also to tell you that I have engaded[sic] passage on the American SS Curacao sailing about Oct 7th I had expected to get away this month but so many matters came up to detain me that I was compelled to postpone my going.
You probably will have received the costs
