his strength, burst the cords with which his enemies had bound him, "as a thread of tow is broken when it toucheth the fire;" and, like him, they would seize the "jaw-bone of an ass," the first weapon that came to hand, and would smite and sweep their oppressors from the earth. Nothing human can stand before the might of a blazing spirit, struggling in a good cause, and not only willing, but worthy, to be free. Of such, God is the helper; and when God enters the battle, tyrants and their legions, will drop away from before Him, as autumn leaves fall at the sweep of a mighty wind.
