24. Fæder, ic wylle þæt þā þe þū mē sealdest sȳn mid mē þār ic eom; þæt hig gesēon mīne beorhtnysse þe þū mē sealdest; for þām þū lufodest mē ǣr middaneard gesett wæs.[1]

25. Lā, rihtwīīsa Fæder, middaneard þē ne gecnēow; witodlīce ic ðē gecnēow; and hī oncnēowon þæt þū mē sendyst;[2]

26. and ic him cȳðde ðīnne naman, and gȳt wylle cȳþan; þæt sēo lufu ðe þū mē lufodest sȳ on him, and ic on him.[3]

CAPUT XVIII

Ðēs passio gebyreð on langa-frīgadæg.

1. Þā sē Hǣlend þās þing cwæð, þā ēode hē ofer ðā burnan Cedron, ðǣr wæs ān wyrtūn, intō þām hē ēode and his leorningcnihtas.[4]

2. Witodlīce Iudas, þe hyne belǣwde, wiste þā stōwe; for þām þe sē Hǣlend oftrǣdlīce cōm ðyder mid his leorningcnihton.[5]

3. Þā underfēng Iudas þæt folc and þā þegnas æt þām bisceopum and æt ðām Phariseon, and cōm þyder mid lēohtfatum and mid blasum and mid wǣpnum.[6]

4. Witodlīce sē Hǣlend wiste ealle þā þing þe

  1. A, þær; A, geset; A, B, C, wǣre (for wæs).
  2. B, C, oncnewon; A, C, sendest.
  3. A, cyðe þynne; All MSS., and ic eom on him.
  4. A, þar; A, wyrttun.
  5. A, ofthrædlice altered to oftrædlice; A, -cnyhtum.
  6. A, B, C, bysceopum.
