27. Petrus þā eft wiðsōc; and sōna se cocc crēow.

28. Đā gelǣddon hī þone Hǣlend tō Caiphan on þæt dōmern; hit wæs þā morgen; and hig sylue ne ēodon intō ðām dōmerne, þæt hyg nǣron besmitene, ac þæt hi ǣton hyra ēastron.[1]

29. Þā ēode Pilatus ūt tō him, and cwæð, Hwylce wrōhte bringe gē ongēan þysne man?[2]

30. Hig answaredon and cwǣdon tō him, Gif hē nǣre yfeldǣde, ne sealde wē hine ðē.

31. Þā cwæð Pilatus tō him, Nimað hine, and demað him be ēowre ǣ. Đā cwǣdon þā Iudeas tō him, Ūs nis nā ālȳfed þæt wē ǣnigne mann ofslēan;[3]

32. þæt þæs Hǣlendes sprǣc wǣre gefylled þe hēe cwæð þā hē geswutelode hwylcon dēaðe hē swulte.[4]

33. Đā ēode Pilatus eft intō þām dōmerne, and clypode ðone Hǣlend and cwæð tō him, Eart ðū Iudea Cining?[5]

34. Đā andswarode sē Hǣlend him and cwæð, Cwyst þū þis of ðē sylfum, hwæðer ðe hyt þē ōðre sǣdon?[6]

35. Pilatus him andswarode and cwæð, Cwyst
