[XV, 18—

18. Sōþlīce þā þing þe of þām mūðe gāþ cumað of þǣre heortan, and þā smītaþ þone mann.[1]

19. Of þǣre heortan cumaþ yfle geþancas, mannslyhtas, unrihthǣmedu, forligru, stale, lēase gewitnyssa, tāllīce word:[2]

20. þis synt þā ðing þe þone mann besmītað; ne besmīt þone mann, þēah hē unþwogenum handum ete.[3]

Đys godspel gebyrað on þone forman þunresdæg innan lenctene.

21. And þā fērde sē Hǣlend þanon on Tyrisce and Sydonisce endas.[4]

22. And efne þā of þām Chananeiscum gemǣrum clypode sum wīf and cwæð, Drihten, Dauides sunu, gemiltsa mē; mīn dohtor ys yfle mid dēofle gedreht.[5]

23. Þā ne geandswarode hē hyre. Þā genēalǣhton hys leorningcnihtas, and him tō cwǣdon, Forlǣt hig; for þām hēo clypað æfter ūs.

24. Đā andswarode hē, Ne eom ic āsend, būton tō þām scēapum þe forwurdon of Israhela hūse.[6]

25. Đā cōm hēo, and hig tō him gebæd and þus cwæð, Drihten, gefylst mē.[7]
