He then became collector of internal revenue of the eighth district of Ohio; and subsequently engaged in the practice of law and banking in Upper Sandusky. Since 1874 he has resided in Columbus, Ohio; in 1878 was appointed trustee of the Ohio state university; and for nearly seven years was chairman of the executive committee of the board of trustees. In 1899 he was elected vice-president general of the national society sons of the American revolution. Anderson, James J., soldier, was born in

In 1857 he removed to Kansas; and at the age of sixteen was a member of the Kansas troops in the Price raid in the late civil war. In 1872 he removed to California. He served one year as surgeon on the Pacific mail steamer. He is engaged in writing and lecturing upon theosophy. Anderson, James Patton, soldier, congressman, governor, was born about 1820 in Tennessee. He served in the confederate army during the civil war; and attained the rank of major-general. In 1855-57 he was a delegate to the thirty-fourth congress from the territory of Washington; and in 1857-58 was territorial governor of Washington. He died Sept. 20, 1872, in Memphis, Tenn.
