Blossom, Henry Martyn, insurance agent, was born May 10, 1866, in St. Louis, Mo. He is the author of The Documents in Evidence; and Checkers, a Hard-Luck Story^ Blossom, Thomas, pioneer. He was a, deacon of the church of Plymouth; and a correspondent of Governor Bradford, who speaks of him as one of our ancient family in Holland. The church records describe him as being a holy man and experienced saint and one competently accomplished with abilities. He died in 1633 in Plymouth, Mass. Blot, Pierre, lecturer, author, was born in 1818 in France. He was a noted cooking instructor of New York City. He was the authauthor,

Blount,

Ainsworth Emery, agriculturist, was born Feb. 6, 1831,

horticulturist, author,

near Chattanooga, Tenn. He was captain of a company in the first East Tennessee cavalry for over three years; and in 1865 again assumed the presidency of the Cleveland female college until 1878. He then became professor of agriculture and horticulture in the Colorado agricultural college; and has since occupied the same position inthe New Mexico agricultural college. He is the author of an important work on Agriculture for the Farmer. Blount, Henry Fitch, manufacturer, scientist, was born May 1, 1839, in Ontario county, N.Y. For thirty years he was in active business life; and now resides in Washington, D.C. He is a fellow of the American association for the advancement of science.

was born Sept. 13, 1837, in Clinton, Ga. He is a noted lawyer of Macon, Ga. In 1873-93 he was a representative from Georgia to the forty-third to the fifty-second congresses. died March 8, 1903, in Macon, Ga.

Blount, William, United States senator, governor, was born in 1744 in North Carolina. In 1783-87 he was a delegate from North Carolina to the continental congress; and was governor of the territory south of the Ohio, having been appointed to that office in 1790. In 1796 he was chosen president of the convention of Tennessee. In 1795-99 he was United States senator. While his impeachment trial was in progress in the United States senate, he was elected a member of the state senate and made president thereof. He died March 10, 1810, in Knoxville,

Blount, William Alexander, lawyer, state senator, was born Oct. 35, 1851, in Clarke county, Ala. He was educated in the public schools of St. Louis, Mo.; in 1873 he graduated from the university of Georgia with .first honors; in the following year graduated from the law department of that institution; and has received the degrees of A.B., LL.B. and LL.D. In 1873 he began the practice of law in Pensacola, Fla.; and in 188494 was city attorney. In 1885 he was a member of the constitutional convention of Florida; and in 1893 was chairman of the revision committee of the Florida statutes. In 1893 he declined the appointment to the supreme court of Florida; and in 1902 he served as a member of the Florida state senate. In 1900-04 he was president of the Pensacola chamber of commerce. Blount, William G., congressman. In 181519 he was a representative from Tennessee to the fourteenth and fifteenth congresses. He died May 31, 1837, in Paris, Tenn. Blount, Willie, legislator, governor, was born in 1767 in North Carolina. He was secretary to William, probably his father, while the latter was territorial governor of Ohio. He moved to Montgomery county, Tenn.; and served in the state legislature. In 1809-15 he was governor of Tennessee. He died Sept. 10, 1835, near Clarksville,

Tenn. Blow, Henry T., business man, diplomat, congressman, was bom July 15, 1817, in Southampton county, Va. He devoted himself to the drug and lead business; and served four years in the state senate. In 1863-67 he was a representative from Missouri to the thirty-eighth and thirty-ninth congresses. He was minister to Brazil in 1869-71; and was appointed one of the commissioners of the District of Columbia in 1874. He died Sept. 11, 1875, in Saratoga, N.Y. Blowers, Sampson Salter, lawyer, jurist, was born March 32, 1743, in Boston, Mass. In 1785 he was appointed attorney-general and speaker of the Massachusetts house of assembly; and in 1797 chief justice of the supreme court, having had for some years a seat in the council. In 1801-33 he was presiding judge. He died Oct. 35, 1843, in Halifax, N.S. Bloxham, William D., legislator, governor, was bom July 9, 1835, in Leon county, Fla. In 1860 he was elected a member of the Florida state legislature; was presidential elector in 1868; and in 1870 was elected lieutenant-governor. In 1876 he was a member of the state executive committee; was secretary of state in 1880-84; and in 188690 was United states surveyor-general to Florida. In 1890-96 he was state comptroller. In 1881-85 and 1901 he was again governor of Florida. Blue, Richard Whiting, soldier, lawyer congressman, was born Sept. 8, 1841, in Wood county, Va.
