Blythe, James, clergyman, college president, founder, author, was born Oct. 22, 1765, in Mecklenburg county, N.C. He was president of Transylvania college for several years; and resigned about 1818 and established a seminary for young ladies. In 1832-36 he was president of South Hanover college. He died May 2, 1842, in Hanover, Ind.

Boardman, Arthur l!,dwin, civil engineer, was born March 20, 1850, Macon, Ga. In 1870 he graduated from

Boardman, David Sherman, lawyer, jurist, was born in 1768. For several years he was chief justice of the supreme court of Connecticut. He died Dec. 2, 1864, in New Milford, Conn. Boardman, Douglas, lawyer, jurist. He was judge of the supreme court of iew York. Boardman hall in Cornell university was named for him. He died Sept. 5, 1891, in Ithaca, N.Y. Boardman, Elijah, merchant. United States senator, was born March 7, 1760, in New Milford, Mass. He became a successful merchant; was frequently a member of the state legislature; and in 1821-23 he was a member of the council. He was a United States senator from Connecticut. He died Oct. 8, 1823, in Boardman, ^.-nio.

He was a successful merchant of Macon, Ga.; in 1857-89 was president of the Macon gaslight and water company; and president of the Macon savings bank from its foundation until his death. He died June 30, 1893, in Macon, Ga. Boardman, Harry L., educator, college president, was born June 23, 1866, in Cleve;
