German. Bockee, Abraham, lawyer, jurist, state senator, congressman, was born in Northeast, N. Y. He was a member of the New York state legistlature in 1830. In 1829-31 and 1833-37 he was a representative from New York to the twenty-first, twenty-third and twentyfourth congresses. He was a member of the state senate in 1842-45; and also held in in
1846 the position of first judge of the Dutchess county court. He died June 1, 1865, in Poughkeepsie, N.Y. Bocock, Thomas S., lawyer, congressman, was born in 1815 in Buckingham county, Va. He sat for several terms in the house of delegates. In 1847-61 he was a representative to the thirtieth to the thirty-sixth congresses as a democrat until the ordinance of secession was enacted. In 1861 he was elected to the confederate congress. He died Aug. 6, 1891, in Appomattox county, Va. Bodecker, Carl Friedrich Wilhelm, educator, dentist, author, was bom July 6, 1846, in Hanover, Germany. In 1871 he graduated from the coUege of dentistry of New York City; practiced dentistry in New York City; and for four years was professor of dental embryology at the university of Buffalo. He now practices dentistry in Berlin, Germany. He is the author of The Anatomy and Pathology of the Teeth.

In 189799 he was a representative from Missouri to the fifty -fifth congress as a democrat; and served on several important committees. He still practices law in Paris, Mo. Bodine, William Budd, clergyman, college president, was born March 10, 1841, in Burlington county, N.J. He has been rector of the Memorial church of Baltimore, Md. ; was president of Kenyon college of Ohio; and is now rector of the church of the Savior at Philadelphia, Pa.

Bodle, Charles, statesman, congressman. In 1833-35 he was a representative from New York to the twenty-third congress. He died in 1836 in New York City. Bodley, Rachel Littler, physician, chemist, author, was born Dec. 7, 1831, in Cincinnati, Ohio. She was elected dean of the faculty of the Women's medical college of Pennsylvania; and was lecturer on chemistry in the Franklin institute of Philadelphia. She was the author of The College Story. She died June 15, 1888, in Philadelphia, Pa. Bodwell, Joseph R., businessman, governor, was bom June 18, 1818, in Methuen, Mass. He opened quarries in 1852 on an island in Penobscot bay; and in 1870 organized the Hallowell granite company. He served twice in the state legislature. In 1887-89 he was the thirtieth governor of Maine. He died Dec. 15, 1887, in Augusta, Maine. Body, Charles WiUiam Edmund, educator, theologian, author, was bom Oct. 4, 1851, in England. Since 1894 he has been professor of testament literature and interpretation at the General theological seminary of New York City. He is the author of The Permanent Value of Genesis.
Boedecker, George August Wilhelm, merchwas bora Jan. 18, 1840 in Germany. He served two terms as a justice of the peace in Kansas. He is now in business in Pueblo, Col. He is the author of a volume of poems; and has ready for publication a prose work. Boehler, Peter, clergyman, bishop, was born Dec. 31, 1692, in Germany. In 1737 he entered the ministry; and in 1748 was consecrated bishop. He preached to the settlers in Philadelphia and Bethlehem, Pa. He died April 20, 1774, in England. Boehm, Henry, clergyman, was born June 8, 1775, in Connestoga, Pa. During his entire itinerary he traveled on horseback more than 10,000 miles. Father Boehm, as he was called, was seventy-four years in the ministry; and at the time of his death was the oldest methodist preacher in America. He published a volume of Reminiscences of Sixty-four Years in the Ministry. He died Dec. 28, 1875, near Eichmond, N.Y. Boehne, J.W., congressman. In 1909-11 he was a representative from Indiana to the sixty-first congress as a democrat. Boen, Haider E., educator, congressman, was born Jan. 2, 1851, in Norway. In 188892 he was register of deeds; was chairman of the fifth congressional district alliance committee in 1890; and was chairman of the first congressional committee of the people's party in the seventh district in 1893. Boerum, Simon, farmer, congressman, was born Feb. 39, 1734, in New Lots, N.Y. He was a farmer, and for twenty-five years county clerk. In 1774-75 he was a delegate
