Clarke, William Horatio, organist, musician, composer, was born March 8, 1840, in Newton, Mass. He was educated in the public and high schools of Dedham, Mass. From 1856 he was an organist of Boston, Annapolis, Toronto and Rochester; and in 1893 retired from professional life.

Clarke, William Newton, theologian, author, was born Dec. 3, 1841, in Cazenoyia, N.Y. Since 1890 he has been professor of christian, theology in Colgate university. He is the author of Outline of Christian Theology; and several other theological works. Clarkson, Floyd, soldier, banker, was bom Feb. 37, 1831, in New York City. He served through the civil war; and in 1866 was brevetted lieutenant-colonel for faithful and meritorious services. He was a trustee of the Union dime savings bank of New York City; and president of the Riverside bank. He "died Jan. 2, 1894, in New York City. Clarkson, James Sullivan, journalist, statesman, was born on May 17, 1842, in Brookville, Ind. He has been first assistant general postmaster ~ ^ and chairman of republican national committee. Clarkson, Richard Perkinson, soldier, jourwas born in 1840 in Brookville, Ind. He was the editor and principal owner of the Iowa State Register. He served in the union army throughout the civil war; and spent several months in a confederate prison. He was consecrated protestant episcopal missionary bishop of Nebraska and Dakota in 1865; and three years later, when Nebraska was organized as a diocese and admitted into union with the general convention, he was chosen to be the bishop of the new diocese.
