The Lake of Udaipur


Udaipur, the capital of the ancient state of Mewar, is the centre of what has been called the "Lake District of India." The lake itself, on which the city is located, is one of the most picturesque sheets of water in the world. The dazzling marble of royal palaces, imaged in its mirror-like face, stands out in contrast to the dark hills in the background.
