The Huge Stone Bull at Tanjore

The bull, usually called Nandi, is the sacred animal of the god Siva, or Mahadeva, among the Hindus. One of the most famous images of Siva's bull is the great stone idol at Tanjore in Southern India. This massive figure of black granite, sixteen feet long and twelve feet high, is an object of pious veneration to countless numbers of faithful Hindus.
