No sooner had she made this false report
Of Joseph's coming in so vile a sort,
But Potiphar immediately he flew
Into a sad and cruel passion too,
And cast him into prison where he lay
Till the chief butler and the baker, they
By Pharaoh's strict command were sent to be
Confined from their former liberty.
The baker and the butler both, we find
With dreams one night were much disturbed in mind,
When they to Joseph did themselves apply,
He told them what their dreams did signify ;
One he restores unto his former place,
The other, he must die in sad disgrace ;
The butler must his former place supply,
The baker by the laws be doomed to die.
